for Color Correction

IPL Intense Pulsed Light (SRA by Syneron Candela)

Intense Pulsed Light, commonly known as IPL, Fotofacial, Photofacial or SRA, delivers high-intensity computer-controlled pulses of light that penetrate your skin and heat the sub-surface layers. Our experienced Morpheus Medical Aesthetics staff uses IPL to reverse brownspots caused by sun damage and unwanted spider veins, while stimulating healthy, new collagen.

The signs of aging go beyond fine lines and wrinkles. Photo damage is the result of a lifetime of ultraviolet light exposure.  The visible signs include pigmentary changes, coarse skin texture, spider veins, facial redness, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. Intense Pulsed Light treatments are designed to combat the effects of aging with a gentle approach.

IPL treats a wide variety of skin conditions:

  • Sun damage
  • Flushing
  • Skin texture
  • Redness
  • Broken capillaries
  • Brown spots
  • Age spots
  • Sun-induced freckles on the hands, chest, and face
  • Broken capillaries around the nose
  • Excels in helping the reduction of fine wrinkles and large pores

What to expect:

After determining whether IPL is an appropriate treatment for your skin type and concerns a 30-45 minute treatment appointment will be scheduled.  We apply topical numbing agent and use a cooling machine to decrease the discomfort of the laser pulses which feel like a "rubber band snapping" on your skin surface.

IPL is capable of two processes at once. During treatment, the IPL wavelength is optimized so that the energy is absorbed by 1) unwanted melanin and 2) small broken blood vessels. The heat absorption causes the melanin cells to shatter and the broken vessels coagulate.

Shortly after treatment, the unwanted pigment cells (or melanin) have been thoroughly fragmented without damage to the surrounding tissue. Vascular lesions (spider veins) also coagulate and shrink, many of them disappearing altogether.

In the weeks after treatment, the now tiny melanin particles are eliminated by your body’s own little “clean up” system that absorbs fragmented pigment. Little or no trace of the initial pigmentation spots or spidery veins remain.

For some clients we recommend a second or third IPL treatment to even out extensive brown spots.  You can enhance your treatment by using skin lightening topical treatments before and after your IPL.  Preserving and protecting your beautiful new skin with sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more is always recommended.

Cost: $350 per treatment area for one session.
